The MRL have announced Alysha Janssen as Head Coach of Malta Women’s team for their inaugural test match scheduled for the International Round in June 2020.

Janssen served as an assistant coach to Malta's U16's this year and comes with plenty of experience in the women’s game.

“I’m absolutely thrilled to be appointed as Malta Women’s coach, there’s a big responsibility that comes with the job” Janssen said.

The Women’s game is growing and changing rapidly and I’m excited about developing this nation into the next stage of their rugby league careers.” added Janssen.

The 25 year old is currently in charge of the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs squad in the NSWRL Tarsha Gale Competition and has many years coaching experience with Berkeley Eagles RLFC Women’s Opens and Under-18s sides.

“Alysha was a natural choice for the position after coming on board with our heritage pathways program this year,” MRL General Manager David Axisa said.

“She did a great job with the boys and I’m confident that will continue as head coach of our Women’s team.”

Janssen who also took out the 2019 Country Rugby League (CRL) Greater Southern Region Woman in League Award now begins the journey of building her International squad, and will settle on her support staff in the new year.
