Wheelchair World Cup Final grabs global audience

 

 

 

The Rugby League Wheelchair World Cup delivered record crowds and a thrilling Final in front of global audiences thanks to live coverage on Youtube.
RLIf Chairman Nigel Wood commented:
"This World Cup took Wheelchair Sport to a new level and the atmosphere at the Final in Perpignan established this Tournament as one of the world's leading Global Sporting Events. RLIF is indebted to the French Federation for hosting such an outstanding Tournament and RLIF congratulates the hosts France on winning the Wheelchair World Cup."
In the Bronze medal match Australia narrowly defeated a spirited Italian team competing in the RLIF Wheelchair World Cup for the first time.
In the Final played between the holders France and England the lead changed hands on several occasions before France scored a try in the final 5 minutes of the match to retain the World Cup in a nail-biting finale played in front of an enthusiastic capacity local crowd.
